How Much Does Carpet Cleaning Cost in Utah in 2026?

You call three carpet cleaners and get three different numbers. One says $99 for the whole house. One says $400. Nothing on their websites explains the gap. So how much does carpet cleaning cost, really? Here are the going rates, what moves the price up or down, and how to spot a quote that will grow once the van is in your driveway.

The going rate in 2026

Nationally, most homeowners pay somewhere between $120 and $240 per room, and the average job lands near $183. Priced by area instead, that works out to roughly $0.20 to $0.90 per square foot. A whole house usually falls between $200 and $500.

Our own prices sit at the low end of that range, and they are posted where you can read them. Rooms start at $45. Hallways are $30. A set of stairs is $40. Advanced stain removal is $45. You can add up your own job on our pricing page before you ever pick up the phone.

What actually changes the price

Two homes on the same street can get very different quotes. These are the reasons why.

  • Room count. Most cleaners drop the per room rate as the number of rooms goes up. One room alone almost always costs the most per room.
  • Room size. A large open basement or a great room may be priced as two rooms, because it is two rooms worth of work.
  • Stairs and hallways. These are priced separately almost everywhere. Stairs are slow, hands and knees work, so they cost more per square foot than an open room.
  • Pet accidents. Urine needs enzyme treatment and deeper extraction than a normal cleaning, so it is priced as its own service.
  • Set-in stains. A spot that has been there two years takes more time and more product than one from last week.
  • How long it has been. Carpet cleaned every six months cleans fast. Carpet that has gone five years takes longer, and the result will not be as complete.

Why the cheapest quote often costs the most

A $99 whole house price is usually a door opener. The crew shows up, walks the rooms, and the number climbs. Pre-treatment becomes an add on. Stairs were not included. The living room counts as two rooms after all.

There is a second cost that shows up later. Cheap cleaning tends to be soap heavy cleaning, and detergent left in the fibers stays sticky. Sticky carpet grabs every bit of dirt that lands on it. That is why a bargain cleaning can look worse two months later than it did before anyone came. You end up paying twice in a year instead of once.

A real quote should name a price per room, tell you what a room means, and list stairs, hallways, and any treatment separately. If a company will not put that in writing before the visit, that is your answer.

How to spend less without cutting corners

Cleaning on a schedule is the biggest lever. Carpet cleaned regularly holds less ground in soil, so the job goes faster and the result lasts longer. We take money off for quarterly and bi-annual schedules for that reason.

You can also vacuum well the day before, move the small stuff yourself, and book more than one service in a single visit. If the tile or the couch is due anyway, doing it while we are already there costs less than two trips. Our carpet cleaning page walks through what a visit includes, and pet treatment has its own page if that is part of your job.

We have been quoting Utah County and Salt Lake County homes since 1985, and the price we give you before we start is the price you pay. Book a cleaning online or call (801) 400-2770 for a firm number on your home.
